Dr. Joseph
J Gemmete is the Director of Interventional Neuroradiology division
and Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan.
He is also the co-director of multidisciplinary cerebrovascular
center.
He completed
his radiology residency at Wayne State University School of Medicine/Detroit
medical center and completed his fellowship in Neuroradiology at
the Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard School of Medicine. Because
of his unique interest in imaging and treatment of vascular disorders,
he did a vascular interventional radiology fellowship at University
of Tennessee and devoted another year for Neurointerventional Fellowship
at the University of Michigan.
He has unique
distinction of having dual qualifications in Vascular and Neurovascular
interventions. His clinical interests include carotid and intracranial
atherosclerotic disease, intracranial and head and neck vascular
malformations, stroke treatment and uterine artery embolizations.
He has been instrumental in the establishment of state of the art
multidisciplinary comprehensive cerebrovascular center, first of
its kind in the state of Michigan.
Dr. Gemmete
has been actively involved in clinical research and his research
publications have mostly focussed on Carotid stenting, cerebrovascular
