Mr. Nicol has been a practicing physician assistant with the University
of Michigan Health System since November 2001. He has worked in
primary care looking after patients at the university student health
services and cardiac surgery where he harvested saphenous vein grafts
for coronary artery bypass surgery as well as assisting in other
major and minor cardiac surgical procedures. He joined the division
of Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology in 2003 and has been instrumental
in setting up this division.
Mr. Nicol has
published several papers while completing his Master of Science
degree in the area of cardiovascular and pulmonary circulations.
Along with Dr. Gandhi he is currently establishing a laboratory
for research on cerebrovascular circulation. His clinical research
interests include education of patients and cerebrovascular disease
and the pharmaceutical management of patients undergoing endovascular
procedures. He is currently the Supervisor of Patient Care and Research
with the division of Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology.
