The Section of Pediatric
Radiology is located in C.S. Mott Children's Hospital at the University
of Michigan Health System. Mott Hospital is a tertiary referral center
and primary care facility serving a wide area, including the state of
Michigan and neighboring states. The hospital is a 165-bed facility with
the following breakdown: 100 general or moderate care, 37 neonatal
intensive care, and 28 intensive care.
The Pediatric Radiology Division offers a full range of diagnostic
services for children, including radiography, fluoroscopic examinations
and cross-sectional imaging (CT, MRI and Ultrasound). The faculty and
technological staff of the Section are specifically trained to obtain
high quality examinations of pediatric patients. Emphasis is placed on
optimal imaging of children while minimizing radiation exposure. There
are six pediatric radiologists, a fellow and radiology residents
assigned to the section. The faculty and fellow are engaged in various
research projects as well as in teaching residents and medical students.
Medical students may rotate in pediatric radiology. In addition to daily
section conferences focusing on interesting cases, subspecialty
conferences in general pediatric radiology, neonatology and pediatric
urology, surgery, cardiology, and hematology/oncology are also
conducted.
